U saradnji sa Agencijom za bezbednost saobraćaja, Ministarstvo unutrašnjih poslova realizuje kampanju o odgovornom ponašanju u saobraćaju i obavezno korišćenju sigurnosnog pojasa. Kampanja je počela prvog i trajaće do 14. marta.

Pripadnici saobraćajne policije u narednih nekoliko dana vršiće pojačanu kontrolu vezivanja sigurnosnih pojaseva tokom vožnje, nepropsno korišćenje mobilnih telefona,  korišćenja dečjeg sedišta prilikom prevoza najmlađih. Cilj kampanje je da se javnosti skrene pažnja na veliki broj saobraćajnih nezgoda, i da se utiče na svest svih  učesnika u saobraćaju.

Igor Filipović komandir Saobraćajne policije Užice ističe:

-Poseban akcenat ćemo staviti na korišćenje sigurnosnog pojasa na način kako je predvideo proizvođač. To kako se odnosi na vozača tako se odnosi i na sve putnike koji su u vozilu, odnosno oni koje sede na prednjoj ili na zadnjoj klupi vozila. Kontrolisaće se i nepropisno korišćenje mobilnih telefona tokom vožnje, kao i na prekršaj nepropisan prevoz dece u vozilu. To svakako ne znači da će se tolerisati ostali prekršaji. Pored ovih prekršaja na koji se usmerava ova akcija, svi ostali će svakako biti sankcionisani. Neće biti opraštanja za druge prekršaje koji se vrše, ovo se posebno odnosi na upravljanje vozilo u alkoholisanom stanju.

Korišćenje sigurnosnog pojasa , važno je kako na prednjem, tako i na zadnjem sedištu gde  procenat smanjenja rizika od smrtnog stradanja iznosi između  25 i 75 %:

-Upotreba mobilnih telefona u toku vožnje je veoma često uzrok saobraćajnih nezgoda sa teškom posledicom. Vozači najčešće zbog korišćenja mobilnih telefona odvuku svoju pažnju od saobraćaja, i tom prilikom se dešavaju teže saobražćajne nezgode. Nekorišćenje sigurnosnih pojasa i prevoza dece u vozilu to su uzročnici zbog kojih dolazi do veoma težih posledica. Onaj koji ne koristi sigurnosni pojas ima više šansi da prilikom saobraćajne nezgodne zadobije dosta teže povrede. I kod prevoza dece, dosta roditelja iz neke nepažnje decu prevozi na način kako se stariji u vozilu, ne koriste zaštitna sedišta, podmetače, ne vezuju decu, i nakon saobraćajne nezgodne dolazi na žalost do veoma teških posledicfa.

Predviđena novčana kazna za nekorišćenje sigurnosnog pojasa u toku vožnje iznosi 10 hiljada dinara, dok je predviđena kazna za nekorišćenje dečjeg zaštitnog sedišta od 20. do 100 hiljada dinara.

Istraživanja Agencije za bezbednost saobraćaja o procentu korišćenja pojaseva u automobilima za 2016. godinu govore da u Srbiji oko 75 posto vozača automobila, 72 posto suvozača I tek svaki deseti putnik na zadnjem sedištu , oko 9 posto, vezuje pojas priliko prevoženja u putničkom automobile.
