Striža ovaca je važna i zahtevna operacija koja se mora obavljati svake godine iz više razloga, među njima su proizvodni i zdravstveni. Kraj aprila i maj je pravo vreme za ovaj posao . Poljoprivrednik Vladimir Martić iz Prislonice kod Čačka šišanje runa sam obavlja godinama i za ovu operaciju , u ovoj sezoni, ostalo mu je još svega nekoliko grla od 50 koliko broji njegova farma ovaca.
Da bismo okom kamere zabeležili strižu ovaca vredni poljoprivrednik Vladimir Martić sačekao nas je sa tri – četiri neošišana grla. Nije zakasnio, već je nama izašao u susret. A posao nije lak iako ima električnu mašinicu i relativno dosta iskustva . Striža ovaca uglavnom se obavlja jednom godišnje u našem kraju, u drugim podnebljima moguće je I dva puta . U februaru i na jesen . ,,Ovcu treba osloboditi vune da bi postizala proizvodnju za koju je namenjena” , kaže savetodavac Nebojša Brajović.
Taman kada se obavi ovaj naporan , ali obavezan posao javlja se dodatni problem, a to je runo koje više niko ne otkupljuje niti prerađuje. Prošlo je davno, lepo vreme kada su domaćice plele šalove čarape , gunjeve od vune. Poljoprivrednik Martić kaže da je pre nekoliko godina bilo nekih ljudi koji su otkupljivali vunu, nema ih trenutno. Zato sada runo skladišti, pa će videti šta će sa njim dalje.
Ono što je važno kod striže ovaca , što naglašava savetodavac Brajović , to je da se ova operacija ne preporučuje u periodu kada su ovce sjagnjene , nekih mesec dana do jagnjenja, jer mogu da se dese razne neželjene situacije. Striža se radi od mesec do mesec i po dana posle jagnjenja kada dnevne temperature dostignu određene granice koje odgovaraju ovcama bez runa.
