Praktično prekoputa planine Ozren, u neposrednoj blizini Sokobanje, odnosno utvrđenja Soko Grad, nalazi se ova jedinstvena srpska planina.
Iako je u blizini nadaleko čuvene planine Rtanj, na koju njen oblik donekle i podseća, planina Devica je, čini se, nepravedno zapostavljena. Retki su oni koji su za nju čuli, a još ređi oni koji su njene lepote i osobenosti imali prilike da upoznaju.
Planina nadomak Rtnja i Ozrena
Praktično prekoputa planine Ozren, u neposrednoj blizini Sokobanje, odnosno utvrđenja Soko Grad, nalazi se ova jedinstvena srpska planina.
Čapljinac je najviši vrh Device i nalazi se na nadmorskoj visini od 1.187 metara, ali je ipak mnogo poznatiji vrh Oštra čuka, koji je za oko 100 metara niži.
Osim jama i vrtača, na brojnim visoravnima ove planine se nalaze i pećine koje nisu istražene.
Do planine Devica iz pravca Sokobanje se stiže vrlo lako. Potrebno je da pratite putokaze prema izletištu Očno i da zatim nastavite put dok ne stignete do izvora Šopur, koji kažu nikada ne presušuje. Upravo odatle možete krenuti u upoznavanje lepota planine Device.
Dobro je da znate da je sama planina pitoma i prilično lako prohodna, a da na njoj postoje i obeležene staze za pešačenje.
Zanimljivosti o Bogorodičinoj planini
Planina Devica je oivičena kanjonom reke Moravice, utvrđenjem Soko Grad i takozvanim Ozrenskim livadama, koje je prirodno dele od obližnje, mnogo poznatije planine Ozren.
Na jednom od vrhova, nazvanom Popovica, nalazi se interesantna omanja drvena kuća sa krstom.
Ukoliko se uspenjete tokom vedrog dana na vrh Oštra čuka, nema sumnje da ćete uživati u pogledu i na planinu Rtanj.
Nisu zabeležene posebne legende u vezi sa ovom planinom, koliko je poznato, ali je ipak Devica u krugovima ljubitelja mističnog postala poznata po krugovima od kamena, za koje još uvek nije otkriveno kada su izgrađeni i sa kojim ciljem. U pitanju je pet kamenih krugova, čiji je prečnik između 70 i 120 metara. Prema istraživanjima tima Aleksandre Bajić, reč je o ostacima praslovenske opservatorije.
