Od naredne godine biće proveravano da li su opštine u Srbiji uradile kratkoročni i dugoročni plan smanjenja zagađenja vazduha svoje teritorije, jer su poslednjih godina preporučene vrednosti više puta premašene. Više hiljada smrtnih slučajeva godišnje pripisano je zagađenju vazduha u Srbiji. Čačak ne spada u grupu lokalnih samouprava gde je zagađenje vazduha veliko. Međutim, u toku godinu bude jedan broj dana kada se teško diše, a tome najviše doprinose izduvni gasovi iz automobila kojih ima mnogo, dim iz individualnih ložišta, kao i nepovoljne vremenske prilike. Građani se uglavnom žale na automobile. “Sad su prošla kola to puši kao da loži drva i ugalj”, rekla je jedna Čačanka. Na području Čačka merenja kvaliteta vazduha vrše Agencija za zaštitu životne sredine, koja podatke daje u realnom vremenu, kao i Zavod za javno zdravlje koji ima postavljene stanice u centru i na obilaznici oko grada. “Redovno vršimo merenja tokom čitave godine na na osnovne zagađujuće materija u koje spadaju čadž, sumpor dioksid, azot dioksid, pratimo i taložne materije putem aero sedimentacije. Rdaimo i teške metale, a na mernom mestu u centru grada, koje spada u lokalnu mrežu vršimo i merenja suspendovanih čestica prečnika do 2,5 i do 10 mikrona”, izjavile agenciji MNA načelnik Centra za higijenu i humanu ekologiju ZZJZ Čačak Milka Levajac. Od januara do novembra tokom pet dana zabeležene su prekogranične vrednosti. Koncentracija čadži dva dana je bila previsoka. “Obično se desi sedam do deset dana da budu veće koncentracije čadži i azot dioksida. Ove godine je stanje nešto bolje, ali tu je decembar pa ćemo videti koliko će biti. U ovoj kalendarskoj godini pet dana je bilo prekograničnih vrednosti. Dva dana su zebeležene veće vrednosti čadži i to se obično dešava u zimskom periodu, kada se loži i kada veliki udeo ima grejna sezona”, istakla je Levajac. Statistika pokazuje da u Srbiji više od 6.000 ljudi umre upravo zbog zagađenja vazduha. Iz godine u godinu beleži se sve veći broj onih koji imaju respiratorne probleme. “To je nešto što je u direktnoj proporciji sa poratsom onih koji boluju od hronične opstruktivne bolesti pluća, raznih vrsta bronhitisa i asmatičara, alergičara koji reguju na ono što udišu. Nažalost automobili ispuštaju gasove koji su bez boje mirisa i ukusa, tako da ih mi ne osećamo, ne primećuju se i zbog toga su jako opasni za udisanje i za ceo respiratorni sistem”, rekao je lekar Aleksandar Radojević. Zagađenost vazduha je naročito uočljiva u gradovima koji se nalaze u dolinama i kotlinama i gde nema strujanja vazduha. Izmeštanje saobraćaja iz urbanih sredina, veće korišćenje bicikala i električnih automobila, kao i grejanje na gas znatno bi doprineli čistijem vazduhu.
